This work contains a twenty-page account of the Muslim religion. The chapter touched on prayer, ablutions, beliefs (afterworld, predestination etc.) and the historical development of sects. There are a few short references to the nature of the Qur'an as revelation and as material text but no direct citations of Qur'anic verses. Richard Simon does not specify his sources apart from the mention to a "Mahometan theological treaty written by one of their doctors" (p. 180).
